ABOUT ABOUT

With Belem Abraham (voice) and Sebastián Molina (guitar)

Live music

We are very pleased to present an evening of traditional Spanish and Chilean music from the 18th century to the present performed live by the duo “Encounter of the Two Worlds” featuring lyrical singer Belem Abraham and classical guitarist Sebastián Molina, both visiting from Chile.

The approximately 60-minute program is in two parts, the first featuring songs by Chilean composers Antonio Restucci, Violeta Parra, Margot Loyola, and Victor Jara, the second songs by Spanish composers Manuel García, Manuel de Falla, and Joaquin Rodrigo. Abraham and Molina’s selections aim at revealing the mutual influences of the Spanish and Chilean music traditions.

Abraham has extensive experience in lyrical singing often as soloist in operas and classical music, while Molina studied classical music at the Conservatory of Music of Universidad Mayor in Santiago, Chile receiving numerous scholarships and awards. They have performed as a duo since 2011 and toured internationally presenting concerts in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico; Bogotá, Colombia; Santa Fe, Argentina; and Lima and Cuzco, Peru; among others.
